 This year's Spy Wednesday saw the annual Easter Ritual facilitated by Partners in Faith for the residents of Sophia Housing. The ritual was held in the Sophia Wisdom Centre and residents were greeted at the entrance and presented with 'Invitations to the Feast'. The ritual began with a welcome and a reading from Isaiah 55 "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost" after which the feast began. Some freshly baked bread by Trevor in the kitchen was brought in with some butter, grapes, strawberries and soft drinks. We all tucked in and started to chat.

On Wednesday of Holy Week Partners prepared a special service for residents and visitors to the Sophia Centre to commemorate the events of Holy Week. We were happy to welcome friends from Crumlin who joined us for the occasion. Everybody was given a special gift of a chocolate egg and egg cup as a memento of the occasion.

A remembrance service was facilitated by Dave and Gemma (Fri Mar 19th) in the Sophia Wisdom Centre commemorating John Dawson, a former resident of Sophia, who died recently. Family and friends from varous walks of life were in attendence and shared stories, many of them humourous, about John. The get together was continued afterwards with tea and coffee.

The Daughters of Wisdom, who are one of the congregations who direct the Sophia Wisdom Centre and Housing Association, tragically lost six sisters in the recent earthquake in Haiti. Sisters Marguerite du Calvaire (91), Marie-Flore de St.-Cyrille (74), Christine-Marie de Montfor (80), Marie-Emmanuel du Rosaire (80), Marie-Camille Francois (84) and Marie-Claude Jean (32) were remembered at a service facilitated by Gemma on the 9th March.

The Partners team designed and ran a remembrance ritual for Anne Conroy, one of the oldest Sophia residents on Dec 4th. The service was attended by friends and family of Anne who reminisced with the group on Anne's life. A few days later and to celebrate the season a Christmas Ritual for residents was held on Dec 15th, 2009.
